Where can I find the default location for personal templates?

There is a Default Personal Templates location. The user templates folder and workgroup templates folder are located under the advanced file locations.

"Default personal templates location" is located in Word under Options and Save.

In the box "Default personal templates location", enter the location you want to store your templates in. "C:UsersMatthewsDocumentsCustom Office Templates" is what I think of it. You can find the proper location and full path name by searching your drive.

Users will see any templates they have saved in the specified location in the custom templates tab on the Office Start screen if you enable this policy setting.

I have not found a way to use Options. Default File Path to access all possible storage locations, but not the default personal templates location.

I want to change the default personal template location for all my users in my organization for Office Word or just Office in general.

Where is the Normal template in Word 365?

C: Users[username] App Data Roaming Microsoft Templates is where the templates are typically located. In Word, you can choose Normal dot or Normal.

Below what you typed, the location of your normal template is shown. You will be taken to the folder containing the normal template if you copy this and paste it into the location bar.

There may be no Word normal template. This is not normal.

How do you get to the Templates option in Office 365?

Click to open the file. Click on this PC. There is a Custom Office Templates folder under My Documents. Click the template you want to open.

There is an option to create a template in Word included with Microsoft 365, Word 2019, Word 2016 and older versions.

Microsoft Word has an option to save a document as a template using the ".dotx" format if you need a template tailored to your needs. You can save time by using the saved template over and over.

When you want to simplify and standardize the creation process of certain documents in your organization, it is useful to use it.

Styles, Auto Text entries, Auto Correct entries, macros, toolbars, and shortcut keys can be stored in templates. It is possible to use a template as a global template while you work with other templates.

Where are Office templates stored Windows 10?

In Windows 10, copy and paste the following in the Cortana Ask me anything box, and then press Enter: %appdata% Microsoft Templates (In earlier versions of Windows, click Start > Run, and paste that in the Open box).

You need to know the location of the Office templates folder so that when you create new templates, they are saved to that location and are available for selection when creating new documents. Office versions from 2003 to 2016 have the steps to find the Templates folder given.

Instructions for locating the Office Templates folder in Office 2003 through 2016 can be found here. If you place your templates somewhere other than the designated folder, you won't be able to see them when you create new documents.

Even if the User Templates folder is on the same computer, there are different folders. Look at any of the sample forms listed under additional materials for an example of templates designed for placement in Workgroup folders.

If it is on the same computer as the User Templates folder, it should be in the folder that holds the Templates folder. "Microsoft Office" is the name of this folder. The location will be determined by version of Word as well as the operating system.

For the variations, see the bottom of How to Open the Normal template. The usual location for document templates is the User Templates and Workgroup Templates folders. The Office Setup program may have set these locations.
